I was wondering if anyone has had any experiences they would like to share about using accupunture to treat anxiety.

Re: accupuncture
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 10:18 PMhate to say it but for anxiety it hasn't been shown to be more effective than a placebo (in studies and in my experience as well), but I will say that when I tried it it did teach me how to do basic meditation because you have to sit there awhile and just relax while the needles go to work. I can also report that for some things acupuncture does work well, just not for anxiety.

Re: accupuncture
Thu, August 21, 2008 - 11:42 AMI have to say that I had some little panic attacks when I decided to move to Spain with this family for one summer and teach them english. I decided to go and try out Acupuncture to help me calm my nerves. Acupuncture is known to cure a lot of anxiety and even can make people stop smoking. Anxiety is normal and its all in your head, you just cant let your brain bring you to the dark corners, instead look at everything that is so beautiful around you and that is what living is, its appreciating what surrounds us and what we have. It might not be what someone else has but its your life and appreciate it :) I would definitely recommend acupuncture as it is a very natural way to release stress and calm your mind. No pill or medication will cure your anxiety it will only make it worst, stay away from that. People need to open their eyes and see that they are the only ones who can fix anxiety and everyone of us has the strength to do it. -

Re: accupuncture
Wed, April 1, 2009 - 9:43 AMI really don't think you understand clinical anxiety disorders. Your approach sounds wonderful, but if you have actual chemical things happening, it is impossible without medication (even if only short-term). This is like comparing clinical depression to being "bummed out." One is normal and temporary, the other is something that needs medical attention.

Re: accupuncture
Wed, November 5, 2008 - 2:00 PMI have used accupuncture for anxiety and has helped. In some ways, it is not a passive approach in that it brings up issues or maybe they go in a new direction. Anxiety is caused by blockages of the flow of energy so it would make sense accupuncture can help with that. Herbs might help with that as well.
