Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 2:02 PMI just realized I hardly ever take it anymore, but it has definitely helped me when I needed it. I got to the point of taking 1/4 pill just to take the edge off of stressful situations, so I could deal but also learn to cope w/out using as much of the klonopin. I believe with all meds, and esp. the potentially addictive ones, we each have to be vigilant in paying attn. to what we're doing, how we are feeling, and asking questions/altering our use as needed. -

Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 9:08 PMInteresting thread--each poster seems to have a different take on Klonopin. Okay, so here's my experience with it. (First, though, I have to admit that I didn't go to the link.) I was on alprazelam (Xanex?) but I did become addicted to that. My shrink said that it is one of the more addictive of psychotropic drugs and that Clonazepam was not one that usually causes addiction. Obviously, that's not to say that it doesn't cause addiction in some patients.
For me, it's been great. I've been on it for about a year and-a-half now. I can definitely feel it helping me to relax and let go of those things that aren't worth obssessing over. At the same time, I can go without it with no side-effects or need for it. I just do better in general when I do take it.
Just goes to show how differently people can react to the same medication, huh? -

Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 10:34 AMI have taking this med for 12 years about 1mg to .5 mg a day. I don't mind being on it, it has helped me so much with my anxiety, especially my agoraphobia. Anyway, I am trying to get off of it now. With no luck. I am taking zoloft, but that doesn't really help with the anxiety and panic. Now I am trying a low dose of lamictal. Who knows.
I do know that massage is very helpful with anxiety!!!! Cognative (talk) have NEVER worked for me. -

Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Wed, April 1, 2009 - 9:58 AMLamictal did help me with anxiety...and not having bipolar, I didn't need a high dose which is where the bad side-effects happen. It did affect my concentration, however. (It was hard to focus on reading or work, etc.) I stopped taking it for that reason and because it is very expensive, even the generic, and my student insurance is not great.
I have never taken Klonopin...does anyone find it makes them sleepy or makes it hard to focus? -

Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Wed, April 1, 2009 - 12:10 PMyeah klon will make it harder to be sharp but that's kinda the idea , to stop being so focused and edgy about things
diffusing the mind a bit is ok at times
sleepy, yes .
i dont take during the day for this reason unless the anxiety is really extreme (as it has been recently with a recent break up)

Re: Klonopin/Clonazepam
Thu, April 2, 2009 - 3:38 PMI found that the first 10 days-2 weeks I was on Klonopin, it did make me very sleepy. After that, though, it was okay. That's just me.
