So, funny thing... I think I'm almost all better and now the last few days i have started to get a heart issue. it's not skipping or fluttering, it's just too noticeable. Like I'm sitting here typing and I can feel my heart beat in my whole chest area, which makes me a bit prone to anxiety, it hasn't freaked me out too bad yet but it's really annoying.
Could this be high blood pressure or low? I don't have a history of either. I don't think it's the caffeine but I'll cut that off again to be sure (however I am really enjoying being able to drink tea once more :)
Any of you guys get this symptom? If so what helps?

Re: noticing my heart beat way too much
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 5:39 PMIt sounds like you have recognized it for what it is -- bit of an anxiety situation. If you haven't had too much spicy food, taken allergy medication/decongestant, or suddenly found yourself gaga in love, try breathing exercises. You know... Sit still. Slowly inhale. Slowly exhale. Repeat for 15 minutes, then levitate [:lol-kidding;]

Re: noticing my heart beat way too much
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 6:05 PMDefinitely doesn't sound like low-b.p. Could be high b.p., but I wouldn't know. Silly as this sounds, it could simply be a food allergy. Wheat does that to me, makes me feel like my heart is going to pound right outta my chest. There's no pain or anything, it's just like my heartbeat's got an amplifier. -

Re: noticing my heart beat way too much
Fri, December 28, 2007 - 10:19 PMthanks for the advice you guys. Hopefully it isn't a food allergy because i just paid good $ to get that stuff tested and IO hate to think we may have missed one, I can't tell you how happy I was when they told me I wasn't allergic to dairy, hooray! What was funny was that before the tests I was almost sure I had a dairy allergy, so much so that sometimes eating it would give me anxiety, ahh the power of the mind.
Thanks for the reminder on the breathing exercises I sometimes forget that even though it's the first thing I should remember. I am starting to think that it may have been partially due to trapped gas, since I was a bit gassy the last few days, maby something I'm eating like too much garlic is causing me grief. For now the breathing is helping and I'm going to watch my diet more carefully. I really should keep a food journal for times like this. -

Thu, May 15, 2008 - 7:27 PMIsn't it amazing how so often breathing stuff helps and yet its so easy to forget to do. Why is that, urg? I forget too. lately, I've been tapping myself on the forehead when I get nervous to get out of it (sometimes tapping I feel silly and that prods me to rememer the breathing). Other times its soothing. not coordinated for both at once though, jha, hhee, gasp

Re: noticing my heart beat way too much
Tue, May 13, 2008 - 11:09 PMactually i have heard (and it seems to be in line with my experience too) that fast pulse goes with low blood pressure. i have a general chronic tachycardia--my resting pulse is usually around 80 or sometimes higher. my bp is low--about 99/60. the times that my pulse has been lower (sometimes early morning when still sleepy), my bp is slightly higher--around 110/70. i have heard that when the bp is low, it takes more beats to push the blood around. makes sense to me. -

Re: noticing my heart beat way too much
Thu, May 15, 2008 - 4:59 PMHmm, interesting thoughts, Stillfire. I've got the low b.p. and high pulse rate thing goin' on, too. I have found, though, that with the low b.p., my pulse is more shallow--not something that would cause a more pronounced heart beat, but, who knows?
Yeah, I think that any of the things mentioned here, or in combination, could explain it. Also, If I drink too much coffee, my heart beat is definitely more pronounced--low b.p. and all! Do you remember, back with Bush, Sr., in office, that they took him to hospital, worried about his heart? That one turned out to be too much caffein!
